End Of Life Announcement for C++ Code

Postby smackay » Thu Jul 22, 2010 9:54 am

I already blogged about this, but here is a formal announcement of the End Of Life for all the C++ libraries for Transform, Translate and the Cookbook. The final date this code will be available on the Flagstone Web Site will be September 15th 2010.

You will still be able to get access at SourceForge however:

http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/transform-cxx/
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/translate-cxx/

The projects will be officially "abandoned" and will not be updated, at least by me.

If you need a viable alternative then take a look at Ming, http://libming.org. The project is gaining momentum after a lull and the code has support for Flash 8 so it offers more features than the current versions of Transform or Translate. I have spent a little time playing with the code - specifically porting the Cookbook examples and the library is quite easy to use. The API provides a more abstract view of creating a movie but it takes little effort to port code written for Transform over to Ming.
